Turn Key paints up a storm for Johnstone’s17 July 2015
This month Johnstone’s Paint (PPG) will launch its first national TV campaign. With concept creation managed by Turn Key, the ‘Here’s to the doers’ campaign will be featured on prime TV slots across UK and Ireland channels from 20 July.
Already a leader in the trade paint world, and celebrating 125 years in business, Johnstone’s Paint now has its sights set on the consumer market.
Turn Key has worked with Johnstone’s on trade marketing activity since 2012, and following a competitive three-way pitch, we were thrilled to be appointed to direct Johnstone’s first-ever national consumer TV advert!
With a £1 million media spend to create 30 second and 10 second advert edits for the UK and Ireland, Turn Key devised a creative concept and script and after pitching out the script to four different companies, appointed The Gate and director Simon Neal to complete the team.
With the casting complete, the team headed to Greater Manchester on 2 July for an all day shoot. Starting at 7am and armed with 140 paint tins and 96 tester pots and fuelled by the classic decorating combination of tea and biscuits, the team were set for a full day of shooting. All hands were on deck and Johnstone’s management team, Tim Wood and Jason Metcalf were more than happy to chip in with the painting!
With shooting, editing and voice-overs done and the ad in the can, Turn Key is now also handling Johnstone’s PR and social media activity during the two-month TV advert campaign period – so keep an eye out for our colourful content on Facebook and Instagram.
